TRS OK Weighs $1B+ Shift Into Private Credit
Partners Group Names Co-CEOs
Four US public pension systems disclosed 2026 and 2027 pacing plans totaling $5.98B in target commitments in August, according to Dakota data, with private equity and private credit drawing the largest targets at roughly $3.51B and $1.7B, respectively. Dakota also tracked 22 institutional searches across 19 allocators this month, representing at least $16B in disclosed mandates.
Among the day’s allocator news, the Teachers' Retirement System of Oklahoma committed $150M each to TPG Peppertree Fund XI and SDC Digital Infrastructure Opportunity Fund V, and is separately weighing a shift of roughly 4%, or about $1.16B, from public equities into a new private investment-grade credit allocation within fixed income. Elsewhere, the Chicago Teachers' Pension Fund board deadlocked 6-6 on a motion to retain incumbent consultant Callan, while a competing motion to hire Meketa failed for lack of a second; the board will revisit the selection this month.
In leadership developments, Partners Group named Roberto Cagnati and Juri Jenkner co-CEOs effective Jan. 1, 2027, succeeding David Layton, who will move to CIO and chairman of the firm's global investment committee. Separately, Lori Hall-Kimm joined the Abu Dhabi Investment Council as CIO for private equity, moving from Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan, where she served as head of global private equity since 2022.
In GP fundraising, Los Altos, CA-based Matter Venture Partners raised $450M for its second flagship fund, more than 50% above its 2023 debut vehicle; Aspira Partners closed its debut fund at its €270M hard cap to pursue buy-and-build strategies across the Nordic lower mid-market; and Houston-based Flathead Forge is raising $200M for its debut hard-tech venture fund, adding Chad Bown, formerly of bp Ventures, as partner and managing director.
