Mendocino County Aiming to Narrow RE Gap
TCDRS Backs Aspira's Debut Vehicle
Mendocino County Employees' Retirement Association is looking to narrow its real estate allocation gap by year-end through a pair of capital calls slated for October. The pension's real estate composite stood at 9.68% of its $918.6M portfolio as of July 31, against an 11% target, with roughly $10M in outstanding commitments to LaSalle Investment Management and Kayne Anderson expected to be partially called in October.
Among other allocators, Ircantec launched a restricted tender to select managers for two fixed-income mandates, seeking up to two managers for a green bond framework with an initial allocation of €1.4B and one manager for a social bond framework with an initial allocation of €300M. Elsewhere, Louisiana School Employees' Retirement System committed $60M across three funds, split evenly among Phoenix Real Estate Fund XI, HighBrook Investors Fund V Europe, and Scout Energy Partners Fund VII; while Texas County & District Retirement System committed €35M to the debut vehicle from Stockholm-based Aspira Partners.
On the GP side, former CrowdStrike global CTO Elia Zaitsev is reportedly launching Cognition, a venture firm targeting a $170M fund focused on agentic AI cybersecurity investments; and Rithm Capital-owned Crestline Management closed Crestline European Capital Solutions Fund II at $625M, about 75% above its predecessor.
Separately, Franklin Templeton's head of private markets for Americas Wealth Management, Dave Donahoo, said during a recent podcast that the firm is prioritizing investment strategy over vehicle structure in building out its private-markets offering, including private-market model portfolios and solutions for defined contribution plans.
