Mass PRIM Commits $855M Across Eight Funds

Carlyle Eyes $200B "Super Cycle"

Massachusetts PRIM committed a combined $855M across eight fund vehicles spanning venture capital, growth equity, buyout, and hedge fund strategies, anchored by up to $250M to GTCR Fund XV, GTCR's $13.5B buyout vehicle, and a combined $300M to TCV Global Growth XIII and its sidecar Mayflower Technology Fund from Technology Crossover Ventures. The pension also opened a new manager relationship with a $75M commitment to Volition Capital Fund VI and separately recommended an initial $150M SMA allocation to Artisan Partners' EMsights Capital Group for a global macro emerging-markets fixed income and currency strategy.

Among other allocators, Norges Bank Investment Management opened an ongoing tender for external equity managers across dozens of single-country and regional mandates spanning Asia, Europe, the Americas, and emerging markets, typically funding each with $150M to $500M. Elsewhere, Alameda County Employees' Retirement Association is weighing a $35M re-up to Quantum Energy Partners IX, having already deployed $100M under delegated authority across real assets and private credit vehicles this period.

On the GP fundraising side, Brookfield Asset Management raised a record $77B in the second quarter, its strongest quarter on record, powered by flagship momentum and a $40B insurance mandate from Just Group. Brookfield's CFO said back-half fundraising should be balanced across flagship, complementary equity, debt, and insurance channels.

Carlyle Group said it is entering a fundraising "super cycle," with nearly all of its flagship strategies set to be in market over the next few years. The firm raised $16.8B in the quarter and $55.8B over the trailing twelve months, with CEO Harvey Schwartz citing confidence in a $200B target for the cycle as secondaries, portfolio finance, credit opportunities, and a new defense and reindustrialization platform prepare to launch.
