Denver ERP Taps Cambridge for $3B OCIO Mandate; CVC Closes Catalyst III at €3B

Denver Employees Retirement Plan selected Cambridge Associates as OCIO, giving the firm full discretionary authority over DERP's $3B portfolio following an 18-month search, and coincides with the planned October retirement of CIO Randall Baum after 18 years with the plan.

In other allocator activity, Texas County & District Retirement System committed $100M to Gallatin Point Capital Partners III within its direct lending portfolio, while Los Angeles Water & Power Employees' Retirement Plan committed up to $75M to Longpoint Fund IV, its third consecutive commitment to the non-core real estate strategy. Dakota's June pension pacing and searches roundup found three US public pensions disclosing 2026 and 2027 plans totaling $4B in aggregate target commitments, with 14 open RFPs from US public pensions representing at least $300M in disclosed mandates.

Overseas, Australia's largest superannuation funds – including AustralianSuper, Australian Retirement Trust, Aware Super, Rest and HESTA – reported high single-digit to double-digit returns for the 2025-2026 financial year, driven largely by AI-linked equity gains, with several funds increasing private markets allocations on improving valuations. And France's Fonds de Réserve pour les Retraites reported a 9.1% net return for 2025, bringing net assets to €20.7B, and will continue committing approximately €500M annually across private equity, private debt, infrastructure, and real estate.

On the GP fundraising side, CVC Capital Partners closed CVC Capital Partners Catalyst III at approximately €3B, above its €1.75B target; Eurazeo closed Secondary Fund V, at €2.3B against a €2B target; and B Capital closed B Capital Ascent Fund III at its $500M hard cap, nearly double its predecessor.
