Capital One anchored Friday's deal activity with a $5.15B acquisition of Brex, signaling continued interest from large financial institutions in AI-native corporate finance platforms.
Beyond fintech, strategic buyers continued to deploy capital in a targeted fashion. Bain Capital completed a landmark $4B sale of WinTrix DC Group’s China data center operations, the largest transaction ever in the country’s hyperscale sector. Consumer and asset management also saw movement, with Clorox agreeing to acquire Purell-maker GOJO Industries for $2.25B and Janus Henderson expanding its macro investing capabilities through the purchase of Richard Bernstein Advisors.
The pipeline, meanwhile, points to significantly larger assets waiting in the wings. CK Hutchison is reworking its $22.8B global ports sale to keep the process alive, India’s Sun Pharma is circling a potential $10B takeout of US-based Organon, and sponsors are quietly testing appetite for billion-euro-plus processes spanning AI services, precision optics and life sciences.
On the funding side, activity was more buoyant than M&A volumes might suggest. Baseten’s $300M round at a $5B valuation, alongside sizable raises for Neurophos and LiveKit, reinforced continued investor conviction in AI infrastructure while growth capital remains available for scaled platforms with clear technical differentiation.
