The $21B MainePERS is considering reallocations away from equities and hard assets into income-generating credit. Targets:

  • Public equity down to 27.5% (from 30%)

  • Private equity to 10% (from 12.5%)

  • Real assets consolidated at 22.5% (down 2.5%)

  • Alternative credit up 500 bps to 15%

  • Public fixed income up to 17.5%, tilted to IG corporate debt

CIO James Bennett called the move a “nudge” toward liquidity, lower volatility, and opportunistic lending.
